The situation: 15% of school-age children in the Phrao valley live in mountain villages 2-3 hours from the nearest school.
The Warm Heart philosophy: Warm Heart believes that every child deserves an opportunity to learn and reach his/her full potential no matter where they live.
What Warm Heart does: Since 2008, Warm Heart Villages-in-the-Valley has provided family style housing, clothing, school supplies and meals for children from hill tribe villages who would otherwise not be in school. In May of 2010, our Children’s Home almost doubled its numbers as 8 more children from an area close to the Burmese border joined our 10 other children. Today the children range in age from 7 to 18. Warm Heart’s dedicated housemothers are from the children’s home villages and care for them on a day-to-day basis (cook, clean, laundry, etc.). The kids are happy, healthy, and thriving. International volunteers also support the project by providing support, care, and tutoring based on the children’s needs. Warm Heart’s goal is to teach the critical life skills our children will need make it in competitive, modern world beyond the mountains that ring this little valley.
