The "Stop the Smoke" campaign addresses the severe issue of air pollution caused by agricultural burning. In many parts of the world, including our communities, farmers burn crop residues to clear their fields, leading to hazardous air quality and contributing to climate change.

Biochar: A Sustainable Solution
Our solution is biochar, a form of charcoal produced from agricultural waste. Biochar not only helps reduce smoke and air pollution but also enriches the soil, making it more fertile and capable of retaining water. This sustainable approach turns a harmful practice into a beneficial one.

Biochar Life: From Initiative to Public Benefit Corporation
To scale our impact and reach more communities, we established Biochar Life, a Public Benefit Corporation (PBC). As a PBC, Biochar Life operates like a traditional business but with a focus on positive social and environmental outcomes. This structure allows us to attract investment, form strategic partnerships, and drive large-scale change more effectively.
What Biochar Life Does
1. Training and Education: We educate farmers on how to produce and use biochar, providing them with the knowledge and tools they need.
2. We hire and train Verifiers to do the dMRV (digital Monitoring - Reporting & Verification) of the process to meet international standards for selling carbon credits for the farmers.
3. Market Access**: Biochar Life creates markets for biochar products, helping farmers generate additional income.
4. Environmental Impact: By reducing smoke and improving soil health, Biochar Life contributes to cleaner air and more sustainable agriculture.
