Warm Heart Children's Homes

Empowerment Through Education

We are dedicated to making a positive impact in the lives of families and children through our focus on education and sustainable initiatives.

At the heart of our mission is the belief that every child deserves an opportunity to thrive and reach their full potential.

In the remote and isolated mountain villages where we work, access to education and basic resources is limited, trapping families and children in a cycle of poverty.

Our primary objective is to break this cycle by providing a safe living environment away from their isolated communities, where children can receive the education they deserve.
the power of education
By providing a safe haven away from the challenges of their mountain villages, we ensure that their educational journey is not hindered by the lack of infrastructure or resources.

Investing in children’s futures

At our Children’s Home, we provide comprehensive support and services to ensure that children from hill tribe villages have every opportunity to receive an education and build a brighter future.

We believe that education is the key to breaking the cycle of poverty and empower our children to reach their full potential.

  • Safe housing and nutritious meals: Our children come from drug and alcohol-infected villages where they are at constant risk and possess no schools, teachers, or role models. Our Children’s Homes serve as a safe environment for the children. We provide comfortable and secure housing facilities in which to live and all the good food they can eat. Warm Heart seeks to ensure that they have a stable and supportive home away from their isolated mountain villages.

  • Access to public school: Good nutrition is essential for a child’s physical and cognitive development but going to school is essential, too. Where our children come from there are no schools, largely illiterate, non-Thai speaking parents, and few role models. Unfortunately, school is far from free and becomes much more expensive with each move up as the costs of transportation, books, supplies, uniforms, and exams are tacked on. Warm Heart ensures that all children are fully funded as far as they choose to go to school.

  • Dedicated after-school teachers: Our children often arrive unable to speak Thai, several years older than their Thai counterparts, and without any of the basic skills necessary for success in school. We, therefore, employ two after-school teachers to teach Thai, arithmetic, and study skills. Once the children have mastered the basics, the after-school teachers become learning coaches and homework assistants. Warm Heart is proud to say that after three years with us, our children routinely earn Grade Point Averages a third higher than the school average.

  • English and social skills: Language and interpersonal skills are critical in today’s interconnected world. Our program assists our children in learning Thai as their second language and provides trained, native-language English speakers to open doors to wider opportunities in the future. By surveying employers we also know that the “soft skills” of dressing, self-presenting, and social communication are more sought after than, for example, accounting and computer skills. Warm Heart, therefore, teaches English and the basic social skills to ensure our children a leg up in the workplace.

What our donors say:

Jason Highberger, CEO Biochar Life
“As I was exploring northern Thailand, I had the fortunate opportunity to
Jason Highberger
meet the founders and team from Warm Heart. They are all so generous and caring.
We initially got to know them by their great work with supporting disadvantaged children but quickly realized they do so much more for the community and the environment."

  • Continuing Education: Education is a lifelong journey and we are committed to supporting our children from primary school through college and university. We provide ongoing guidance and resources to help them navigate their educational paths. We believe in nurturing their ambitions, encouraging them to pursue higher education, and providing no-cost scholarships to those who demonstrate dedication and potential.

Empowerment through education

Picture
Joy is from the first hilltribe village to consider placing children at Warm Heart.  The mountain village was two hours by rough dirt road to the valley and school.

The village had no electricity and her family had one solar cell given out by the government to provide light in the evenings.

Her parents worked hard farming rice on steep hillside terraces.  The family had enough to eat but not much left over.

When her father died, her cousins stepped in to help her mother on the farm.

Her father had told us, when he was ill and dying, that he wanted his two girls to get through school and make a better life for themselves.

We have been able to support them, and they have studied hard to graduate from university.

Joy graduated just as the hospitality industry was recovering from the pandemic.

She found a position as a receptionist at an up-and-coming hotel chain.

Joy still takes time off to bring in the rice harvest, but now she can help support her mother.
